Projects of Italien mezzo-soprano Raffaella Lupinacci include 2021 at the Pesaro Rossini Opera Festival Arsace in Aureliano in Palmira and in Brussels Adalgisa in Norma.
Among the most recent engagements include Jane Seymour in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena in Vilnius, her debut in the title role of Carmen in Trapani and Lima, her return to the Korea National Opera in Seoul as La Muse/Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
She gave her debut in the part of Mallika in Léo Délibes’ Lakmé at Royal Opera House Muscat and at the Teatro San Carlo in Neaples as Suzuki in Madame Butterfly.
2018 she opened the Festival della Valle d’Itria as Romeo in Vaccai’s Giulietta e Romeo and gave her debut in the part of Angelina in La Cenerentola at the OperaEstate Festival Veneto.
She guested as Rosina in Bologna, as Suzuki in Ascoli Piceno, Fano, Fermo and Palermo, as Fenena in Nabucco in Como, Brescia, Pavia, Cremona as well as under Daniel Oren in Salerno, as Arturo in Rosmonda d’Inghilterra in Florence and at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in Modena, Lucca, Piacenza, Triest, Genova, Palma de Mallorca and Bologna, as Dorabella in Così fan tutte in Vicenza, Genova and Seoul, as Malibea in Il Viaggio a Reims at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, as Carlotta in Torvaldo e Dorliska in Pesaro, as Neris in Cherubini’s Medea at the Wexford Festival, as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro in Rome and Verona, as Emilia in Rossini’s Otello in Antwerp under Alberto Zedda and as Calbo in Maometto II in Zurich, Basel and Fribourg.
At the Rossini Festival in Pesaro she was heard as Zulma in L’Italiana in Algeri, as Publia in Aureliano in Palmira as well as as Doralice in La Gazzetta.
As a concert performer she sang, among others, Rossinis Petite Messe Solennelle in Saint-Etienne under Alberto Zedda, Schubert’s Mass in E flat major in Turin and Bologna under Michele Mariotti or Rossini’s Stabat mater under Gianluigi Gelmetti with the Orchestra della Toscana.
After graduating in opera singing at the Stanislao Giacomantonio Conservatory in Cosenza, she took part in numerous masterclasses with world-famous singers, including Mirella Freni, before completing her studies under Maestro Fernando Cordeiro Opa.
She was selected by Alberto Zedda for the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro and, in the summer of 2012, made her debut as Marchesa Melibea in Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims. In 2013, having established her reputation in the 64th AsLiCo competition, she made her debut singing the title role in Tancredi on the Lombardia opera circuit.
Recordings include a cameo performance in the CD «Giulio Cesare. A Baroque Hero» by countertenor Raffaele Pe (duet, «Son nata a lagrimar») and «Giuletta e Romeo» by Vaccaj, CD released by Dynamic in CD, DVD and Blu-ray. Both recordings received excellent reviews from international critics.
Raffaella Lupinacci, born in Acri, is one of the most sought-after mezzo-sopranos of her generation.
