Eines der Highlights der laufenden Spielzeit waren die konzertanten Aufführungen des Rheingold mit dem Dallas Symphony Orchestra unter Fabio Luisi.
Drei wichtige Partiedebüts prägen die jüngste Vergangenheit: Im November 2023 war er Protagonist in der Uraufführung der Oper Don Buoso des tschechischen Komponisten Jan Kučera am National Theater Prag, 2020 als Aegisth in Valencia, 2019 als Friedrich Wilhelm in Henzes Der Prinz von Homburg in Stuttgart und 2018 als Captain Vere in Brittens Billy Budd in Prag.
Der Loge in Wagners Das Rheingold wurde zu einer zentralen Partie im Repertoire des Künstlers. Nach seinem ersten grossen Erfolg in San Francisco 2008 unter Sir Donald Runnicles, den er 2018 wiederholen konnte, sang er die Partie auch an der Metropolitan Opera in New York, an der Bayerischen Staatsoper München unter Kent Nagano, in Amsterdam unter Hartmut Haenchen, in São Paulo, Houston und Chicago. Daneben gewann der Schuiski in Boris Godunow, den er bereits in Chicago, Madrid und Stuttgart gesungen hat, immer mehr an Bedeutung.
Zu den grössten internationalen Erfolgen des Künstlers zählen die Interpretationen der wichtigsten Partien in den Werken von Leoš Janáček. Zunächst der Laca in Jenufa, den er an fast allen wichtigen Häusern Europas und in Japan unter Dirigenten wie Semyon Bychkov, Sylvain Cambreling, Seiji Ozawa, Kirill Petrenko oder Sir Simon Rattle gesungen hat, später folgte die Partie des Tichon in Katja Kabanová.
Mit Patrice Chéreaus Produktion von Janáčeks Aus einem Totenhaus gastierte der Künstler als Luka / Filka Morozow unter anderem an der Metropolitan Opera in New York, in Mailand und Lissabon sowie unter Sir Simon Rattle an der Staatsoper Berlin. Zuletzt sang er diese Partie in Rom, Paris, London, Brüssel und Lyon.
Štefan Margita gastierte bei den Festivals von Salzburg, Ludwigsburg, Bregenz und Edinburgh sowie auf den Opernbühnen und in den Konzertsälen von Stuttgart, Leipzig, Triest, Dallas, London, Madrid, Mailand, Turin, Bergamo, Wien, Prag, Budapest, Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Basel, Paris, São Paulo, Tokyo, Neapel unter Dirigenten wie u. a. Claudio Abbado, Gerd Albrecht, Jiři Bělohlávek, Aldo Ceccato, János Kulka, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Antonio Pappano, Zoltán Pesko.
Sein breites Konzertrepertoire beinhaltet u. a. Werke von Mozart, Beethoven, Dvořák, Smetana, Mahler und Bartók.

Highlights of the current season have been the concert performances of Wagner’s Das Rheingold with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra under Fabio Luisi.
Three important role debuts characterise the recent past: in November 2023, he was the protagonist in the world premiere of the opera Don Buoso by Czech composer Jan Kučera at the National Theatre in Prague, in 2020 as Aegisth in Valencia, in 2019 as Friedrich Wilhelm in Henze’s Der Prinz von Homburg in Stuttgart and in 2018 as Captain Vere in Britten’s Billy Budd in Prague.
The Loge in Wagner’s Das Rheingold became a central role in the artist’s repertoire. After his first major success in San Francisco in 2008 under Sir Donald Runnicles, which he repeated in 2018, he also sang the role at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich under Kent Nagano, in Amsterdam under Hartmut Haenchen, in São Paulo, Houston and Chicago. In addition, the Schuiski in Boris Godunov, which he has already sung in Chicago, Madrid and Stuttgart, has become increasingly important.
Among the artist’s greatest international successes are his interpretations of the most important roles in the works of Leoš Janáček.
