• Young Korean bass Ildo Song performs in Zurich 2019/20 Dottore Grenvil in La Traviataconducted by Fabio Luisi, Eremit in Der Freischützunder Axel Kober, Montano in Otellounder Daniele Rustioni and Roberto in Calisto Bieito’s new production of I Vespri Sicilianiunder Fabio Luisi.

    2019 he was guesting as Zio Bonzo in Madame Butterflyin Naples, where he will return in 2020 for Oroveso in Norma.

    Since the beginning of the 2017/18 Ildo Song belongs to the ensemble of Zurich Opernhaus, where he sang  Julian Pinelli in Schreker’s Die Gezeichnetenconducted by Vladimir Jurowski, Zio Bonzo in Madame Butterflyconducted by Fabio Luisi, Conte di Ceprano in Rigolettoconducted by Gustavo Gimeno, Alessio in La Sonnambulaconducted by Maurizio Benini, Oroveso in Normaunder Fabio Luisi, Erster Nazarener in Salomeunder Ulf Schirmer, Ambrogio in Il Barbiere di Sivigliaunder Enriche Mazzola, Commissario imperiale in Madame Butterflyunder Daniele Rustioni, Sciarrone in Toscaunder Paolo Carignani, La Voce in Idomeneounder Giovanni Antonini, Le Fauteuil/L’Arbre in L’enfant et les sortilèges, Mandarin in Turandotunder Giampaolo Bisanti and La Voce in Idomeneo.

    From 2015 to 2017 he was in the Opera Studio of Zurich Opernhaus, where he debuted as Antonio in a new production of Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reimsstaged by Christoph Mathaler and conducted by Daniele Rustioni. He sang Samuel in Un Ballo in Mascheraand Il Frate in Don Carloand participated in Orlando Paladino.

    He has already appeared as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, as Sparafucil in Rigoletto, as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, as Don Alfonso in Così fan tutteand as St. Peter in Too many sopranosat Seoul Kim Young Hee Hall, at Seoul National University Hall and at the Seoul Art Center.

    In Locarno he sang very successfully for the first time Verdi’s Messa da Requiemconducted by Markus Poschner in fall 2018.

    Ildo Song is an award winner at several Korean Voice competitions. 

    2014 he won 3rd prize at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Düsseldorf.
